When Pamela Curtain is diagnosed with cancer, her family plead with her to try everything that might give them all more time. She reluctantly agrees, but on one condition. Life goes on because it has to and so does the weekly family dinner with wine and loud sibling banter.
With grace, guts and cups of tea the matriarch prepares herself and those she loves for the inevitable. Their conversations are honest, funny and at times confronting, where a shade of lipstick might be the only bright side.
This is a toast to love, friendship and the ordinary. There is no happy ending but the Curtain family discovers that there can be ‘good’ in goodbye. And it somehow leaves them feeling just a little victorious.

This is one of the best memoirs I've ever read. Full of feeling yet dignified. The author did a masterful job of bringing the reader along on her journey. I feel like I know her and can relate to her world although I have a completely different background. I look forward to more books from this author.Product details

Awesome book to read. The author has done a wonderful job to describe her journey which engrosses you from the beginning. I couldn't stop reading because it brought me back the memories of my grandmother and uncle who experienced similar illness. Its a must read!
Beautifully crafted book on a sad topic...whilst the outcome is always known (title should give that away...) it is written with gentle humour and is a real pleasure to read. Highly recommend it.
Kellie has managed to write something so heart-felt and honest that is sure to touch you. Having a family connection made reading this even more special. Unable to put it down and reading through tears and laugher this book has answered questions i was unaware i needed answers to. If you only read one book, make sure it is this one. You truly won't regret it.
Keeping it real. Anyone who has experienced the love of a no-nonsense mother will relate to the little gems that sprout from a mother's mouth at the most inopportune times! I was delighted to read the honest account of Kellie's special relationship with her mother. I would have like to have known Pam. Sprinkled with humor, Kellie details their last journey together.
I loved this book. It is totally relatable . You can picture yourself in this family going through this exact situation. I could not put it down.
You will fall in love, laugh and most definitely cry. This book will stay with you long after you have finished it.
An amazing insight into a Mother’s end of life through her daughter’s eyes. The beautiful relationships and love shown even from the babes in the family will brings tears to your eyes whilst putting a smile on your face. A treat to share this personal journey.
I loved this book because it made me remember the happy times with my mother and her love for her grandchildren. The days are sometimes still hard but life goes on and the memories are wonderful! Thank you for writing about your mom and her wonderful life.
